Team Woojin is the research group led by Professor Woojin Kim at the College of Korean Medicine, Kyung Hee University.
The lab focuses on nervous system–related disorders, including pain, anorexia, and cachexia, with particular emphasis on how inhibitory interneurons and signal processing within brain somatosensory circuits contribute to neurological dysfunction and behavior. In addition, the lab investigates plant-derived medicinal compounds and their therapeutic potential.
Our research integrates circuit-level and cellular approaches to examine how functional alterations in these networks shape pathological pain states.
Team Woojin employs multimodal patch-clamp techniques to characterize precise neuron–glia interactions. In parallel, we utilize neuropathic pain models induced by neurosurgical interventions or chemotherapy to analyze circuit-level changes and associated behavioral outcomes, ultimately aiming to identify effective therapeutic strategies.
